So it’s December 6th, 2020 and we’ve set out on our first RV adventure. We left our friends property to travel to Florida on an easy hour and 45 minute drive to Jacksonville. We are SO excited. The only thing that would’ve made it more exciting was for us to be riding in the RV together, however Zo and I are trailing behind in Hondesha (our car) until we let it go. So here we are watching Tripppy (our RV) in all it’s glory from behind, playing games and then the universe decides we’re here for the adventure right?!

We’ve got 30 miles left to Florida and nope! Pop goes a tire on Tripppy! Gone. It’s over. I call Bae and say, Um I think the tire just blew out. He proceeds to ask if I’m sure because he only heard the pasta sauce fall. No sir. The pasta sauce fall was probably because the popping tire my love! We pull over. Call AAA. They can’t help. Why not? Because of course we didn’t add the RV on it. Good job guys. Clumsy couple of the year. But have no fear! Geico is here. We put in a claim with the insurance and lo and behold- we’re gifted with an hour and 45 minute wait. Yaaaay. Good thing we have our whole house with us! Zo does some art, babe eats all the snacks, I scroll. We survive. Tire gets changed. Shout out to Roy.

Back on the road. Wooo!! Again, we are sooo excited!! We cross the border to Florida and guess what?!! The SAME TIRE POPS AGAIN! What in the *!?%! What do we do?! We drive to the welcome center to regroup. We have no spare because it was just put on and now it is completely shredded. We don’t want to tow Tripppy because helllo we have to sleep in her tonight! Zoey doesn’t understand this is a HIGH. STRESS. SCENARIO. Poor kid is asking a MILLION questions. Parents are trying to breathe. We’re gonna make it through this. We are. How you ask?! We have zero idea. But we shall persevere. It’s who we are. This is an adventure!

We decide to just drive on the bad tire for 13 miles to a safe place to sleep. The universe has our back. We make it to Cracker Barrel and park in one of their lovely RV spots. All the tire places are closed. We will sleep well and get a tire in the morning. No big deal. Right? WRONG! Homeless woman bangs on our door at 12:57am. Bae wake up! Someone is knocking and saying hello! Again, WTF?! This is some adventure!! Lady proceeds to tell us (us meaning Bae who got up, not me) that she needs money. We have none. Sorry. Please leave. Situation diffused. Whew. Now we can get some rest! Which you can totally read as “sleep with one eye open looking out the window trying for the next 6 hours.”

This was the most memorable first day/night in the RV and I wouldn’t trade it for anything. As crazy as it was, we are safe and have a story to tell. And that’s what life is about right? Or maybe it’s just us crazies that appreciate things like this. However I know one thing we can all agree on:
