If you’ve been here since the beginning of our travels, you know it’s been a bumpy ride. I’m sure you’ve probably asked, why are you guys still driving around with your crazy complications?! Well it’s because we have a job to do! Being the serial entrepreneurs we are, we have a gig to sell fireworks in Miami and we’re scheduled to set up the tent for the New Years season on December 26th.

So now we continue our travels. We have an equestrian campground reserved and we’re so excited! We can see some horses, experience a campground and everything will be all good. Even without a door. We’ve got a screen door so we are set. But as you’ve noticed, as soon as we’re on a positivity trip something is bound to go awry. That something here was an acceleration problem, again. No worries, we’re used to this 15mph game. *insert a slow death scene*
After hours and hours and hours and hours, we made it to the campground. It was dark and confusing to get in because it was so late but we made it. However there will be no horse sightings or campground fun. We must QUIETLY drive in and find a spot as to not disturb people. Done. But we remember we have no door. So we make a plan- sleep in the car. You do what you gotta do. Morning breaks and we don’t want to be embarrassed by our no door situation, PLUS we have a lot of miles to cover with not a lot of speed to cover it with. We gots to get going. Hubby jumps in the RV andddddddddd it doesn’t start. We try again. No. Again. Nope. And then trouble.

Captain Campground comes blazing in on his bike towards us with a reprimand. ‘What are we doing here? We shouldn’t be here. Check in isn’t until later’ he says. I reply with a good morning greeting like a nice human being and told him we stayed the night with our reservation that gave us the gate code to get in. Would you like to see? No. He doesn’t. He’s mad we’re in his segregated space, if you know what we mean. It’s all good sir. We’re trying to leave, as you can see. Once he gave us all the dirty looks and disgusted energy he wanted, he wished us luck and pedaled away. Thanks my man. Great way to start the day.
We continued to try and get the RV started and finally Tripppy turned over. We were on our way. We made it to Lowe’s in Homestead and we set out to build a door. Because we had no security, hubby sent me in alone and tackle this task while he hung out with Zoey. It wasn’t easy. There’s a lot that goes into a door. It needs to be weather proof. It needs to fit the doorway. And it needs to lock. But when it’s RV, a door that fits is hard to come by. Why didn’t we go to the RV supply store or something that actually specializes in this type of thing? Because we’re newbies! And when we called, everyone said it would be about $1,000 and weeks to get in. Nah fam. We trying to get out of debt and to our destination in a timely fashion. So mom came out with supplies to build. It wasn’t a good door. We had no idea what we were doing. But it was a piece of wood, we jimmy rigged it to have a lock, and it opens and closes. Mission accomplished. Security!
We made it to our firework tent and the next week was luxury. We hooked up to our generator and got to work. Doing any type of vending with your house right next door is a game changer. We could still implement bedtime routines with the kid instead of breaking down our set up early, or be out so late to a hotel to sleep. We had a bathroom to use instead of walking into an establishment and my favorite was being able to sleep in a bit more. Uncle Dave came down with our nephew to help and him and Zoey did an awesome job greeting customers and bagging items. We all had a good time. We made great money and celebrated New Year’s with a bang.

And then boom! It hit us. We were about to be transported into a whole new world when Uncle Dave takes the car. Yep. Hondesha is leaving us so we can actually travel together and I’m not driving behind the RV. We could have gotten some sort of hitch/pull-behind set up, but it turned out to be WAY more expensive than we thought. This journey is about getting debt free so budgeting is key and gas for two vehicles is like the opposite of saving money. So January 1st we watched her drive away and now Tripppy is our only vehicle for these adventures. All our faith is in the universe. Hopefully she don’t start trippin’!

Because we know by now:
